Research

Rachel Carson's namesake knew how to make a case for something she felt strongly about. In the culmination of her life's work, she was able to lead the effort to ban DDT for its harmful effects against nature. In Rachel Carson's Debate Club, I was able to do the same thing on a smaller scale. Mr. Creech taught me how to put together an effective case by taking in both sides, making a strong case for my own side, and prepare for the other side's arguments and rebut them. I hope that the club can go on so that we can teacher other Carson students the same and reach the same accolades that we have in the past.

  1. Not only that, but Mr. Creech also helps us with our speeches. He gives us lists of helpful resources that we can expand on to end with an excellent speech with many important points.

  2. The club allowed me to learn how to compile information into an organized format, and taught me how to abbreviate and use powerful words. Mr. Creech spent time with each and every one of us and gave everybody suggestions and feedback on their work. I hope to continue to benifit in this club, and I wish for other students to have a chance to learn skills they will need later on in life.
